Management & setup

Test.com sites are self managed.

We’ve made test.com easy to use, so you can setup it up yourself. If you can follow directions, you’ll be able to do it. But if you need help, we’re a phone call away.

Initial setup

All our customers start out with a trial site. The trial sites are live sites. The trial sites have no limitations, so you can completely set it up and evaluate your private test.com website prior to making any purchase commitment. As a part of setting up the trial, we’ll do the work to make it look and feel like your website. This way you can focus on getting your content in your trial.

Superusers

When we setup a test.com trial, we’ll also create one initial user in your site. This user is added in your site as a superuser. Superusers can do anything in a test.com site such as author or change tests and content. They can also add and edit regular users. Regular users have access to your content like taking tests but can’t for example author or change content. Superusers can turn regular users into superusers. There are no limits as to the number of regular or superusers allowed in a test.com site.

Administrators

Administrators in test.com are optional. Administrators are another type of user with privileges between those available to superusers and regular users. Administrators can be given special privileges to manage specific groups of users, groups of content or reporting as you determine.

Proctors

Proctors in test.com are also optional and used if you conduct high stakes testing. Specific groups of users and content can be setup to require proctors. Proctors can be given functionality to watch over a test taker while a test in being taken. Proctors can also print tests to be taken at a later time. Proctors can be used to manage large volumes of test takers taking an online test in a large classroom.
